Chamber Chat – Alistair Eagles

Our snowball is rolling

I really love Lancaster and Morecambe and honestly believe that we are jointly entering an exciting new chapter in our history.

One year on from the opening of the Bay Gateway there is no doubt that the road has made an enormous and immediate difference to traffic flows in the area. This is clearly hugely important and local business, visitors and residents are already benefiting from the M6 link on a daily basis.

However, there is much more to come and maybe the most important aspect of the M6 Link are the secondary investments that are now coming off the back of it. We have already seen a number of other large investments being made close to the road and its role as an initial catalyst for other things should not be underestimated.

The fantastic news that the Canal Corridor development has now moved a step closer is a game changing moment for the area. For any doubters out there, the fact that a company such as British Land are willing to invest here should now provide absolute clarity that if investors of this stature have faith in our area then so should we!

This is our moment and we should work together closely as investors now start to understand just what we have to offer. As President of the local Chamber of Commerce I was delighted to help represent this area at a recent property investment trade show in London. Lancaster and Morecambe is now firmly on people’s radar. One investment in a road is leading to many more in other areas.

Our snowball is rolling and it is time to put our local differences to one side and look outwardly towards the future as a united team ‘Lancaster & Morecambe’. Together we are indeed better.
