Chamber Chat - Mal Garnett
I was honoured recently when Apparatus was selected to become marketing partner for the North Lancs Expo. It goes without saying that my team did a fantastic job - I would say that wouldn’t I! Our sponsors and partners pulled out all the stops: the Chamber team; the Expo committee and the wider raft of volunteers and helpers all made it a fantastic first attempt. Admittedly everything didn’t go to plan, there are things we can do differently, a host of things I want to improve and a list as long as my arm of new ideas to make it bigger and better.
“Next time?” I hear you ask. I am pretty confident that this will become an annual event, along with the already fantastic regional portfolio of events, exhibitions and festivals we are becoming nationally renowned for.
In my last Chamber Chat, with the upcoming expo in mind I called out to our business community to come together and help us to shout louder as a unit. Well we certainly did that! The business community responded fantastically, so much so that we had a waiting list of businesses ready and willing to step up.
This enthusiastic response has made a few larger organisations sit up and take notice. We already have offers of support - sponsors asking how they can be involved and a host of businesses have already secured their stands for next year. There is no time to let the dust settle. We are already thinking about venues, dates and number of stands. The more advance bookings that are confirmed, the better we can make next year’s Expo for the community, sponsors and exhibitors.
The North Lancs Expo 2018 is facilitated by the Lancaster & District Chamber of Commerce but it is owned by our local business community. It shows that this region is open for business and that together, we can make great things happen.
