Support LDHAS Crowd funder’s pitch
Lancaster District Homeless Action Service and More Music in Morecambe started to run weekly music and singing sessions for homeless and vulnerably housed people in 2013. Over the years they have sung a broad selection of covers of popular songs; Roaming Vox evolved from these sessions to perform at Lancaster Music Festival in October 2016. People taking part describe how the sessions have lifted their spirits “the only reason I walk the planet” and restored their self-belief, “singing has really helped my confidence” making a significant contribution to their recovery from addiction, “(singing) helps me deal with the bad stuff that happens” to securing and maintaining a home and to returning to paid employment.
LDHAS think it is important to underline the achievements of our songwriters and singers and to demonstrate the contribution they can make when given opportunities, so they are launching a request for funding via the Crowdfunder website. It goes live at 9am on 20 September 2017, and they hope to raise £3500 in just four weeks.

In addition, every year the staff and volunteers of LDHAS spend a night sleeping on the steps of Lancaster Town Hall. The proceeds from this sponsored event contribute to the funding for the Christmas Shelter which provides rough sleepers with a safe, warm place to stay and hot food to eat for the Christmas period, from 24 December until 29 December.
This year the sponsored sleep-out will take place on Saturday 18 November starting at 9pm and finish at 7am.
