Defence Against the Dark Arts Workshop

From October 11, 2018 09:30 until October 11, 2018 12:30

Most people start their own business because they’re good at what they do, not to become accountants.  The numbers can be quite daunting and accountants often seem to speak a different language and use dark magic to make adjustments to the yearend figures.

This workshop aims to demystify finance by explaining some of the technical terms used by accountants, the key basic concepts and the financial statements you will come across.  There will be interactive exercises to help you leave with the confidence to apply the knowledge gained to understand your own business’s finances.

These workshops will be delivered by Claire Gibb. Claire is a chartered accountant with over 20 years experience. She is passionate about working with SMEs to help make sense of the numbers; helping them to understand what’s going well and what’s not and put strategies in place to get the business to where they want it to be. After training with Deloitte, Claire worked on large infrastructure projects looking at the funding, financial projections and negotiating contracts before working in a variety of public and private sector organisations where she found a talent for supporting non-financial managers to understand and improve their budget management.
