Can you help these refugees? Global Link

December 03, 2019 - 9:30am

The refugee and asylum seeker population in Lancaster continues to grow with newcomers arriving from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Albania, Iraq and Iran. Many are talented and skilled individuals needing a helping hand to get them into work.

As a lot of you know I volunteer with Global Link (as well as run a Social Enterprise – The Global Village Café) in an attempt to help Refugees into the world of work. I’d also like to introduce Sara Nobili-Park who works at Global Link as a Refugee Support Worker. A lot of her work focuses on employment related issues and she would love to hear from you.

Ideally for refugees we are hoping to help them into paid work, for asylum seekers who are not legally able to work, volunteering or work experience opportunities would be perfect.

Many of them now possess good English speaking skills and are improving all the time.

Offer an opportunity to someone?
