Chamber Chat – Allan Sumner , Harrison Drury
Let me start by wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
What a year 2018 has been – with so much going on at every conceivable level. I hesitate to mention the “B” word, other than to say I guess 2019 will bring lots more of it and who knows where and when that will end. Strange times with so much of what is going on being self-inflicted. I spoke to a client on the day it was announced that there would be a no confidence vote in Theresa May and my client was having a nightmare, they had been negotiating a contract which needed to fix the euro-rate and of all the days to conclude it they had picked that day.
At local level the district is going from strength to strength with so many exciting things happening and with the future looking so bright – with the Eden Project North scheme and the launch of the Lancaster Story to mention but two. And on a personal level having moved my family to Lancaster 18 months ago, we are moving again with everything that entails – albeit we are only moving about two minutes’ away and still in the City centre meaning my walk to work will be 5 minutes and not 7.
On Christmas Day itself my family and I will be taking part in parkrun again. If anyone hasn’t tried a parkrun yet then I heartily recommend it – it’s free and at 9am every Saturday morning (starts outside the café in Williamson Park). All you need is your trainers – you can run jog or walk it – it’s for all ages and abilities and its volunteer spirt is a beacon example.
Whatever you do – have a great Christmas.
