Chamber Chat by Jo-ann Harney
Things are definitely still changing in the world and it is no different for the Chamber Team. Since we all went into lockdown back in March the Chamber Team took the difficult decision to cancel all of our scheduled events we had planned for the rest of 2020, this included all of our monthly Members Meets, Spring, Summer & Christmas business lunches.
Like the rest of you we kept hoping that this would change and we could get back to meeting in person and having a catch up, unfortunately this hasn’t happened so the Team got together (virtually) to discuss how we could still all get together to keep in touch with our Members to network and swap information.
We decided that we would hold our first virtual on line Members Meet and this happened for the first time in September where we were joined by over 40 of the Members during a lunchtime session, the meeting was co-hosted by the Chamber Team giving updates, news and information as well as Tom Powney from Briggs Shoes in Morecambe who was the guest speaker and gave a interesting and knowledgeable insight into how the lockdown had effected Tom’s business as well as the area in general. The event was a great success and we have received great feedback from those who attended.
Because of the feedback we received we have decided to make this a monthly event and have scheduled the next two members meet for October 15th and November 18th both events will take place over lunchtime 12.00 until 1.30pm and our next guest speaker at the October meeting will be Paul Bury, Owner of the Lothersdale Hotel & Aspect Bar in Morecambe. More information regarding the events can be found at:-
If you are interested in attending, please get in touch and log on details will be sent to you.
