Chamber Chat - Imogen Brettell
Motivation and wellbeing have never been so important, one of the hardest things about the current situation is not knowing how long it will continue, and that uncertainty causes stress and anxiety. Trying to maintain motivation for employees during these uncertain times is not easy, much of this is due to the constant reminder of the ‘bad news’ stories. One of the most important things we can do is focus on the positive, celebrate all the nice things and find enjoyment in the little things that we normally take for granted.
2020 is nearly over and I can’t wait for Christmas. There is no doubt that this Christmas may well be different to the norm for many but there is no reason it can’t be special. With a little imagination and creativity we can ensure that this Christmas is magical and enjoyable. Whilst many festive celebrations blend into one & we find ourselves forgetting which Christmas was which, this one will stick in our memories because it’s different and unique. At work the tree is up & we intend to celebrate in whatever way we can in line with the guidelines. I would encourage anyone to put that little extra effort in to making this year’s festive break one to remember for all the best reasons.
My January 2020 Chamber Chat ended with the sentence, “Let’s all try hard in 2020 to remember what makes Britain great”! I think this year has given us lots of evidence to support the fact that Britain is still a great place to live and work.
2021 is the start of a new year and despite no certainty of an end, each step forwards is a step in the right direction.
