Chamber Chat – Neil Townsend
As the year draws to a close I have been reflecting on the short time I have been a director of the Lancaster & District Chamber of Commerce. So much has happened to be proud of this year, with the Chamber and all its members working hard to bring a real sense of “happening”, “progress” and “energy” into our area. The recent EXPO, the influx of new chamber members are all supporting the economic powerhouse that is growing around us.
Previous Chamber chats by colleagues this year have all expressed this energy be it around development, business opportunities, investment, the talent within our workforce and the unique characteristics of the Morecambe Bay area we all serve.
As the leader of a charity, like all leaders it’s easy to concentrate on the negatives or the unknown challenges that lie ahead. We know they exist but in my experience our collective energy should be harnessed on the positives and the future opportunities and trends to help grow more success which will help deal with any negatives as they happen.
As Christmas approaches, there are always references to good will. I have recently been engaging on behalf of CancerCare the charity that employs me with different local businesses of all sizes about how they can support us and importantly how we can support them. I can tell you good will abounds and when this happens good will brings seems to create more good will.
The Chamber is here to promote all kinds of good will and I hope that we can continue collectively to work to this goal in 2018. We really do have much to celebrate in our local area and a real passion to continue doing so.
