Chamber Chat – Vicky Lofthouse
When an email pops up in your inbox with the subject title ‘Magnificent Businesses Needed’, it’s hard to ignore and very easy to reply. We are very fortunate to have an abundance of these in North Lancashire.
The email in question was about an informal consultation with BEIS, the government’s Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy team, who had come up from London to consult with North Lancashire businesses on future strategy and policy. The meeting was hosted by Lancashire County Council.
I was delighted to attend the meeting last week with Chamber President Alistair Eagles and a few of our magnificent local businesses to discuss such pressing issues as Business Support – including advice and information: how it is accessed and what the important bits are; Productivity – including local productivity issues and how government can best support businesses; EU Exit (formerly known as Brexit) – including potential impact on supply chains and business planning; and Local Issues specific to Lancashire.
The room was packed with magnificent businesses, and we thank them for their contribution. Along with the Chamber, they were able to feed directly into the productivity review being conducted by the BEIS team.
One of the main remits of Lancaster & District Chamber of Commerce is to be the voice for its members. We represent the views of our members and help support them with real issues affecting their business.
Rather than being one voice on your own as a member, you are part of a proactive group of over 450 business voices, giving you greater support and representation with the ability to champion and the power to influence, to promote economic growth in our city.
Your local Chamber has a strong, confident voice that represents and lobbies on behalf of North Lancashire businesses, to connect and grow a successful business community.
