Chamber Chat with Nick Wilkinson
Our High Street is back in business!
We’ve been in full swing over the summer aiming to promote Lancaster and it’s events in a big but safe way. A great example of this was Festival Italia, with a mix of local shops and traders taking stalls at the event, as well as some great entertainment. And a little bit (...ok a lot) of rain didn’t dampen spirits at our family focused Dino Day on Sunday, which attracted lots of families to see the amazing dinosaurs, and activities – although my daughter now wants a baby triceratops for a pet!
Looking to the future we’ve the much loved and highly successful Lancaster Music Festival coming from the 14th -17th October. Its an event I, like many others, have missed immensely. I’m looking forwards to putting my glad rags on and enjoying world class live music, at some of my favourite venues across the City – Although with a young family of early risers, I’m unlikely to be partying until dawn like in the olden days, but never say never!
Like many other people, I’m facing challenges in my day job that I’ve not experienced before – difficulty finding tradesmen, problems with planning and limited materials, it all feels a bit surreal. This said I’m learning new skills, getting my hands dirty, and doing my best to keep our tenants happy so things are far from terrible.
With, dare I say it, Christmas around the corner and lots of talk of shortages, our High Street is a great place to provide the products and services you need. The shelves will be stocked, and there are plenty of places to grab a drink, be that a coffee or something stronger!
