Coca-Cola Christmas Truck confirms visit to Lancaster

Holidays are Coming…. To Lancaster!

Sunday November 20th saw the launch of Christmas in Lancaster with the Lancaster Christmas Lights Switch-On Event’. This event co-ordinated and funded by the Lancaster Business Improvement District (BID), saw record numbers of attendees descend on Lancaster’s city centre streets for a day of Christmas themed fun! Lancaster BID managed to secure a £20,000 grant from National Grid’s ‘Bringing Energy To Life’ fund to allow the event to be bigger and better than ever.

BID Manager Rachael Wilkinson said: “It was great to be able to put on such a highly popular event again this year. This year saw larger numbers attend the Lancaster Christmas Lights Switch-On than ever before. We’ve already had some really positive feedback form both customers and the businesses who operate here and the event was the perfect way to launch the start of Christmas in Lancaster.”

“The Christmas Lights Switch On acts as a catalyst for the launch of the festive period and Christmas shopping in the city, with late night shopping, free parking and festive events following the Christmas Lights Switch-On.”

Following the success of the Lancaster Christmas Lights Switch-On, Lancaster BID is already busy planning for their next big event in the city centre. On Saturday December 3rd Lancaster BID have managed to secure the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck to make an appearance at Dalton Square, one of just 44 locations to be visited around the country.

This year will be the first time that Lancaster has been included in the Coca-Cola event schedule and it is also the only stop in Lancashire, so expected to draw large crowds!

New for 2016 Coca-Cola will have their own winter wonderland, which will follow the truck around the country. Attendees will also receive free 150ml cans of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero.

In addition to the Coca–Cola truck, Lancaster BID have arranged for a number of children’s fairground rides in the Square. The Bay radio will also be broadcasting live from the event throughout the afternoon and there will be food available from The Borough Pub!

BID Manager Rachael Wilkinson said: "It's fantastic news for the businesses and residents of Lancaster that we have managed to secure the Coca-Cola truck this year. As part of our role we promised to continue to support a bigger and brighter Christmas campaign and this event will help us fulfil this objective, by driving footfall in the city centre."

Tom Fyson Lancaster BID Development Manager said “We are delighted that Coca-Cola have agreed to visit Lancaster this Christmas. We are confident that the visit will attract large crowds and give local businesses a real boost in trading during the run up to Christmas.”

This event has been co-ordinated and supported by the city centre businesses (Lancaster BID).
