Dementia Awareness Training at Briggs Shoes

Briggs Shoes and their staff members completed a ‘Dementia Awareness’ training course on Tuesday 2nd April, 2019. The main store on Morecambe promenade receives a lot of elderly customers, so it is essential that the staff members are able to go the extra mile to assist and help all customers that walk through the door, no matter what age.

According to Alzheimer’s Research UK, 1 in 14 people over 65 have dementia in the UK and 1 in 79 of the whole population. Also, it is estimated that 850,000 people are living with dementia in the UK.

Customer service is a big part of how Briggs Shoes runs their business and the customer loyalty and support is greatly appreciated. On a TripAdvisor review from the course provider, there was excellent feedback which states “A dementia friendly retailer understanding the needs of those living with the disease. A dementia aware workforce making a significant impact locally in assisting customers with confidence to continue to live well in the community. Well done team Briggs in becoming Dementia Friends today.

”The training course was presented by Gill Grattan, and for more information on the training for businesses, you can contact Briggs Shoes at info@briggsshoes.co.uk or Morecambe BID at info@morecambebid.org.uk
