Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas At The Dukes
There will be a festive feel to The Dukes final film screening of 2017 for people with dementia, their families, friends and carers.
Meet Me In St Louis(U) starring Judy Garland is set in the lead up to the 1904 World’s Fair as the four Smith daughters learn lessons of life and love while preparing reluctantly for a move to New York.
The film, which is screened on December 11, features a wealth of familiar songs including Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, The Trolley Song and The Boy Next Door.
There will also be a chance to join in a festive singalong during an interval in the film which begins at 2pm and ends at around 4.15pm.
This film screening is part of The Dukes pioneering A Life More Ordinary programme for people with memory loss although it is open to anyone wishing to enjoy a classic film. More well known titles are lined up for 2018.
At these relaxed events, presented in association with Age UK Lancashire, people are welcome to move around and come and go as they please.
Tickets are priced £4 and carers go free. Tea, coffee and pastries are available in The Dukes café area, free for all ticket holders from 12.30pm, courtesy of Cumberland Building Society.
Pastoral care is not provided at A Life More Ordinary events so a friend, family member or carer must also attend.
