International Student Conference for Africa

This is an invitation to all Lancaster Chamber of Commerce members to express interest in participating at the International Student Conference for Africa (TISCA 2019) - taking place on the 6th and 7th of April, at the Bowland Main Lecture Theatre of Lancaster University.

TISCA is a premiere Conference for African students in the United Kingdom, previously tagged the International Conference of Nigerian Students in diaspora (ICONS), founded and convened by Xn Foundation (, a UK and Canada registered NGO founded by one of Lancaster University’s alumnus, Dr. Akanimo Odon who is also Director of one of LEC’s resident companies - Envirofly Consulting. ICONS/TISCA has successfully been held once a year for the last 10 years and has brought about incredible impact and positive contributions to the lives of so many African students and professionals in the UK. It has also supported the setting up of more than 25 SMEs in Africa by students who attended the conference.

As this year’s theme is 'African Students and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’, it is a great opportunity for companies to showcase their products and services to a wide range of UK-resident students and professionals from over 20 African countries. There is also an opportunity to learn a lot more about doing business in Africa and the potentials for strategic partnerships and representations.

TISCA will comprise of a full day’s activities with several guest talks, career seminars, a big Africa-style buffet dinner, awards ceremony, social performances and an Africa-style dance party on the 6th of April and then a student career session on the morning of the 7th of April. As we are expecting over 150 students and young professionals from all over the UK at this year’s TISCA, it is an opportunity you should take advantage of.

If you are interested in speaking, sponsoring or exhibiting at this year’s TISCA, please contact Dr. Akanimo Odon directly on
