Kids: shop, don’t strop over Summer!
New River recruit child psychologist to help parents tame toddler temper tantrums in their shopping centres
Over two-fifths (42%) of Morecambe parents claim their child has thrown a tantrum whilst shopping, with almost half (47.2%) saying they would rather avoid a trip to the shops with the kids for fear of their child misbehaving.
A third (30%) of parents polled from Morecambe admit to using sweets and bribery to get their child to behave when shopping.
Further to the press release shared with you at the start of the month, New River wanted to let you know that they’ve launched their Kids Club campaign at Arndale Morecambe Bay which will provide the following for local families shopping at the centre:
• free play areas
• workshops, events
discounts for families being rolled out at the centre over the next few months.
With Summer holidays looming New River are aiming to provide Kids Club activities to make shopping much easier for our families.
Kids Club is a national campaign driven by New River, owners of the shopping centre, aimed at creating a happier, calmer shopping experience for those with children.
Respectively 2,000 parents were surveyed to find out what could make shopping with kids easier and more enjoyable.
There were some interesting results from Morecambe, as over two-fifths said their child has thrown a tantrum whilst shopping and 47.2% would rather avoid a trip to the shops for fear of their child misbehaving. New River have been working with Dr Sam Wass from the TV show ‘Secret Lives of Four Year Olds’ to tantrum train our staff and give extra support to stressed out parents.
