New design studio open for business

August 17, 2016 - 11:00am

Big Torch is an independent design studio dedicated to helping businesses improve their design and brand. Based in The Storey in the city centre, Steve specialises in brand identity, print and web design.

Steve started Big Torch after a decade at Lancashire agencies including Jellymedia and 2am. During that time he developed his straightforward approach to design. He said “I think most clients have enough on their plate. They appreciate simplicity and they don't care about industry jargon. The good news is, you really don’t need buzzwords to get good design.”

Clients interested in working with Steve can get a free one hour design review for their project. He added, "the review is about getting under the skin of every business. I like to take you right back to the beginning. Let’s find out why you started your company in the first place. What makes you tick? Why are you different?”

“Your customers are busy so you need to do interesting things to get their attention. Good design done in a smart is a great way to achieve that,” Steve continues. “Innocent, Apple, Nike and Dyson are all proof of what design can do for any business. It's all about changing and improving perceptions.”

His comments follow Design Council reports showing a direct link between design, bigger profits and more market share. Steven is keen to make sure that local businesses make the most of those benefits. “I’m a Lancashire lad, and I want to see the benefits of design reach across the county. This research shows design can help our businesses compete and succeed at the highest level.”

“Design has always been about making brands interesting, and that hasn’t changed for decades. So that’s what Big Torch is set up to offer. It’s about giving clients good ideas and smart design that stands out.”
