Recruiting Volunteers to Support Need During the Covid-19 Outbreak

A message from Yak Patel at CVS.

Dear colleagues,

Yesterday we added a couple of forms to our website - one for groups to add their volunteer roles and one for members of the public to offer their help. We have had a positive response so far but we are going to keep sharing them and encourage as much use as possible, so if you are a group in need of help, please go along to the website and complete the form here

We know that need is changing day to day, so if you are considering recruiting volunteers for specific work around supporting people and communities during this unprecedented time we have put together a short document with some useful bits of advice around safe recruitment and managing volunteers. You can find this attached. Please do contact us if you have any questions relating to volunteering and your other needs, we are on hand to help.

So far we have had people come forward offering the following support:
  • dropping off/delivering food and medicines
  • helping with shopping
  • admin support
  • telephoning people/befriending
  • cleaning and other practical tasks
  • being a 'street champion' (obviously this would need coordination and would be where the person/people offering this live)
  • IT support
  • driving
If you are doing anything that could make use of these generous offers of help, please let Mark know and he can put you in touch. Please email
You can also contact for all kinds of help and support. At the moment our preferred method of contact is email because it will be much easier to get a hold of us this way.
I hope you find the volunteer recruitment pack helpful. We will continue to send you helpful links, resources and information in due course. Please do not hesitate to contact me or my team if you wish to discuss anything further.
