Sharing St John’s Tuesday 14th November, 2.30-6pm
St John's Church, built in the 1750s, is a Georgian gem in the heart of the historic Mill Race area that has been closed as a church since the early 1980s. Built at a time of wealth and prosperity for the city, the church holds the stories of the people who lived, worked and worshipped in Lancaster for over 250 years, with links to trans-Atlantic trade, civic life, and local trade and manufacturing.
With generous support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Lancaster and Morecambe Chamber of Commerce and Churches Conservation Trust are working on plans to repair and adapt the building for reuse as a new home for the Chamber and a space for Chamber members to work, meet and get together. We are also thinking about how we share the stories of St John's with a wider audience. We’d love to know what you think!
