Opportunities for local employers

The world of work is changing.  Small and medium size businesses account for the majority of employment opportunities in the UK.  More people than ever run their own businesses.  Industries are transforming and many companies that will become household names in ten years’ time do not yet exist.

Our network of Enterprise Advisers comprises of volunteers drawn from businesses and other employers, both large and small.  They will work directly with the leadership of individual schools and colleges to develop effective employer engagement programmes.  Clusters of schools, colleges and Enterprise Advisers are supported by a full time Enterprise Coordinator.  In Lancashire Nicola Roberts has been appointed to support schools and employers in Fylde and Wyre, Lancaster and Morecambe.

“I want education to be everyone’s business, involving parents, teachers, business and the whole community.  Schools shouldn’t be places where business people drop their kids at the beginning of the day. Businesses should lead by example”

John Cridland CBE

Director – General of The Confederation of British Industry.

We are looking for Employers to express their interest in working in school for the following activities:

Careers events

Mock interviews

Cross Curriculum sessions

Assemblies

Employability days

If anyone wants to do any other activities in the schools and make a difference, please send me your ideas. this is a way to raise the profile of your business and your industry and mould the future workforce. This is a sustainable programme that is Coordinated to ensure the encounters are meaningful to both Employers and Students.
