Women in the Food Industry #WIFI announces first Northern event
Women in the Food Industry’s first Northern event pays homage to ‘Lancashire Female Food Entrepreneurs’
The free event is a collaboration with Marketing Lancashire, and generously hosted by Lancaster University’s Lancaster Conferences+ takes place on 30th January 2020.
Janie Ash, co-founder of Women in the Food Industry, is one of a select group of Entrepreneurs in Residence at Lancaster University and has been working with Marketing Lancashire and Lancaster University to showcase the diversity and excellence of Lancashire’s food and drink talent.

Marketing Lancashire’s Taste Lancashire campaign and partners have promoted the county’s food and drink through events and activities locally, nationally and internationally. In recent years taking the Taste Lancashire brand as far afield as Australia, USA, Europe and the Nordics.

Lancaster University excels at understanding and teaching entrepreneurship. Recent accreditation from The Small Business Charter of the Management school held particular praise for Lancaster’s Entrepreneurs in Residence scheme, which has been running since 2008, and which sees around 50 established business leaders each year working within the faculty to deliver masterclasses, pass on expertise and spark activity whilst Marketing Lancashire’s work to promote the county raises awareness all over the world.
From Lancaster’s campus base, Lancaster University’s conference business (Lancaster Conferences+) offers more than a dozen venues, hosting everything from keynote conferences and training courses to team-building getaways with a dedicated, professional events team to help achieve event goals.
Women in the Food Industry is a pioneering new initiative and the place for each and every woman in the food industry to tell their story, to be heard and be given equal respect. Co-founded only 12 months ago by Mex Ibrahim and Janie Ash, it has run a series of successful events in London and has gained fans from high profile influencers across the UK.

This free event includes a Lancashire pop up food market, a couple of inspiring masterclasses and an insightful and thought-provoking panel discussion.
Masterclasses “How to become a Successful Food Entrepreneur,” from Stosie Madi, Chef Patron of award winning rural inn, Parkers Arms and Rachel Trenchard, co-founder of international award winning artisan gin, Goosnargh Gin from the Forest of Bowland.
“Inspiring Women in Food” is the subject for our panel discussion and panelists include:
Camilla Ainsworth – Founder of M+LKPLUS and youngest ever finalist on BBC’s The Apprentice. Joycelyn Neve – Founder and Managing Director of the multi-award winning group of gastro pubs, Seafood Pub Company. Karen Walker – Co-founder of the award-winning sauce brand, Nowt Poncy. Lisa Smith – Founder of Ginger Bakers, award winning cakes and bakes. Ros Wilkinson – Head of Hospitality at Lancaster University and Emma Mayoh – Food & Drink Editor of Lancashire Life and Journalist.
